   We are investigating slow and failing page images on our websites. Recently released editions are mostly loading, though slower than usual; older back issues are more affected. Our mobile applications are unaffected, as are browsing, sign-in and account functions.

   This incident is resolved. Between approximately 15:44 and 20:26 PDT on 20 August 2026, page images on our websites were slow or failed to load, with older back issues more affected than recently released editions. The cause was a limit on simultaneous connections in our rendering systems, reached under an unusually high volume of image requests. We have improved how those connections are managed and spread rendering load across regions. Our mobile applications were not affected, nor were browsing, sign-in and account functions, and no data was lost. We apologise for the disruption.
